Tell Us About Your Blog

My blog lists all of the updates to the Generations Quilt Patterns website, updates on where we'll be vending or teaching classes, as well as topics I find particularly interesting to let quilters know about... or ponder about!

Your Favorite Aspects of Quilting

Machine quilting and invisible machine applique that really fools the eye into thinking it was done by hand.

I love to do hand applique but the demands of being a mom, running the business, dyeing fabric, designing quilt patterns and learning to build a website myself don't leave the time I want for hand applique.

This particular technique does the job for me.

For machine quilting, I'm passionate about helping others learn how to do their own quilting on their own home sewing machine. If you can afford a long arm or mid arm... great! But for so many of us, that is not an alternative.

You CAN learn to quilt on your on home sewing machine with wonderful results! It takes practice, but once you own the skill... IT'S YOURS ...and no one can take it away.

The sense of satisfaction you get from quilting your own quilts is amazing.

Advice

  • My best advice for blogging is to keep it real and keep it pertinent.
  • Best advice for quilting is to go slow. If your sewing machine has a speed control, use it, and slow down the stitching. There's less ripping that way.
