What made you choose the pattern?
I chose 12" snowballs because the panel fabric I started with had 12" motifs. I chose easy Shoo Fly squares to alternate with these because I was just getting started again after many years.
Did you finish the quilt? If not, why?
Yes, I finished it!
What do you love (or hate) about the quilt?
I love it because it is my first completed project. I had made the curtains for this guestroom several years ago, and had the fabric for the quilt.
What would you do differently next time?
Use a more neutral color for sashing and borders.
What was the most difficult aspect of the project?
Refreshing my skills. I used your website every step of the way to refresh my memory and to learn new techniques. I did not use a rotary cutter, rulers and mat when I used to make quilts. I had trouble at first getting accurate 1/4" seams and had to rip out several times.
Tips and Tricks
- Cut accurately
- Be careful of bright colors
- Make sure you have a 1/4" seam (bought a 1/4" presser foot)
