Inspiration for my postcard's design
We were supposed to try our hardest to actually do a quilty postcard using a traditional pattern. I chose the square in a square as I thought it would reduce nicely.
Techniques I used to make the postcard
The way I accomplished making this postcard...First I use a heavyweight Timtex as my base, and then all the blocks were done by paper piecing. It was the first time I'd done something so small, and I was lucky that the postcard swap group I'm in only does it in small groups. I only made 4 of these little babies, and this one was mine!
Tips and Tricks
- I would say, that on a card like this, accuracy is the hardest thing to do. But, as you can see, it turned out pretty nice and I would do this again in the future. Oh, since this was a postcard and all, I did not tear out the paper backing.
Materials I used to make my fabric postcard
Heavyweight Timtex for the batting part, and paper-pieced patterns that I ran off my computer, and cotton fabrics.
How long did it take to make the postcard?
This card took pretty much a whole day. I did 4 of them!
