This shot of the Grand Canyon is all about neutrals mixed with rust, with colors in obvious horizontal bands. You can do that with a quilt.

Or how about the Aunt Addie's Album quilt? Make the star bodies with a variety of neutrals and use scrappy rusts and reds (with some deep charcoal mixed in somewhere) to create the star tips.

Through the Windows is another pattern possibility.
