A few notes:
- Sometimes it's best to cut just what you need for each initial strip set. Cut the rest after you've constructed one set and cut accurate units from it.
- 42" strips refers to strips cut from selvage to selvage. Do not trim back longer strips.
Black/White Floral/Geometric Print
- Cut eight 2-1/2" x 42" strips
- Cut two 1-1/2" x 42" strips
- Cut one 1-1/2" x 10" strips
White/green print "shirting" type fabric
- Cut eight 2-1/2" x 42" strips
Black/Rust/Orange Fabric with "Capsule-like" motifs
- Cut sixteen 2-1/2" x 42" strips
Med-light Brown Print
- Cut eight 2-1/2" x 42" strips
- Cut nine 1-1/2" x 42" strips
Black Print with Small Florals
- Cut nine 1-1/2" x 42" strips
Make Strip Sets
"Capsule" Print / White & Green Print
- Sew a 2-1/2" x 42" "capsule print" strip to each side of a white/green print strip of the same size. Press seam allowances towards the center.
- Square up one end of the strip set and cut as many 2-1/2" segments from it as possible (16 average).
- Make three identical strip sets. Cut 2-1/2" segments until you have sixty. Set aside.
Brown Print / White & Green Print
- Sew a 2-1/2" x 42" brown print strip lengthwise to a white/green print strip of the same size. Press seam allowances towards the brown strip.
- Square up one end of the strip set and cut as many 2-1/2" segments as possible (16 average). Make three more identical strip sets; cut a total of sixty segments. Set aside.
Black / Brown Four-Patch Units
- Sew a black/floral 1-1/2" x 42" strip lengthwise to a brown strip of the same size. Press seam allowance towards black strip. Square up one end of the strip set and cut as many 1-1/2" segments from it as possible (27-28).
- Assemble additional identical strip sets. Cut 240 segments.
- Assemble 120 four-patch units from strip sets, arranging like colors diagonally.
