Big Quilt Blocks
I like this basket quilt block when it's designed with vibrant, but darker, colors. Use any fabrics that appeal to you -- it would look wonderful in the pastel colors of spring or sewn with solid colors in the Amish style.
On-point blocks make excellent starting points for the center of a medallion quilt. Use the large version of this basket quilt pattern to make a big 20-inch basket quilt block.
Stitch multiples of the 10-inch basket block until you have enough to make a quilt of any size.
We'll use half-square triangles for all of the outer "blossoms." Look at the illustration and you'll see that the mirror-image "blossom" triangles along the right and left slopes could be constructed using the easy flying geese technique. Switch to that method if you like, but keep in mind that cutting and sewing instructions must be altered.
