Introduction to the Springtime Ribbons Quilt Pattern

Springtime Ribbons is a name inspired by Karen Neuburger's pink-ribbon fabrics. They're gorgeous fabrics, but if you don't need a pink ribbon quilt it's easy to change the theme -- simply select different fabrics.

Two traditional patchwork quilt blocks are used to create the quilt: Friendship Star and Spool. Both blocks are easy to assemble using quick piecing techniques, and both can be assembled in different ways. I've written the pattern instructions to reflect two assembly methods -- choose either Option 1 or Option 2 for each block.

If you're a beginning quilter, I hope the options will help you develop an ability to analyze patchwork, a skill that will come in handy when you want to create a pattern of your own or make changes to a pattern written by someone else.

Option 1 (in both cases) assembles blocks from squares and half square triangle units. Option 2 (in both cases) assembles blocks from quick-pieced flying geese-like units and squares.

Finished Quilt Size: 54" x 72"
