Springtime Ribbons Quilt PatternSpringtime Ribbons is a name inspired by designs from a previous line of pink ribbon fabrics by Karen Neuburger. They were gorgeous fabrics, but are probably no longer available at quilt shops. Make a pink ribbon quilt with other fabrics or change the theme entirely by selecting different designs.
Two traditional patchwork quilt blocks are used to create the quilt: Friendship Star and Spool. Both blocks are easy to assemble using quick piecing techniques, and both can be assembled in different ways. I've written the pattern instructions to reflect two assembly methods -- choose either Option 1 or Option 2 for each block.
If you're a beginning quilter, I hope the options will help you develop an ability to analyze patchwork, a skill that will come in handy when you want to create a pattern of your own or make changes to a pattern written by another author.
Option 1 (in both cases) assembles blocks from squares and half square triangle units. Option 2 (in both cases) assembles blocks from squares and quick-pieced units that are very much like traditional Flying Geese.
