Miniature Quilt Nine Patch Blocks

  1. Gather the 1" x 33" light and medium dark 1 strips. Sew the strips together lengthwise, with the darker strip in the middle. Press seam allowances towards the dark strip.

  2. Use your rotary cutting equipment to square-up one end of the strip set, then cut thirty-two 1" segments from the set.

  3. Gather one 1" x 17" light strip and two 1" x 17" medium dark 1 strips. Sew lengthwise to create a second strip set, placing the light strip in the middle. Press seam allowances towards the dark strips.

  4. Square up one end of the strip set and cut sixteen 1" segments from it.

  5. Assemble the nine patch blocks by sewing a Step 2 segment to each side of a Step 4 segment. Press seam allowances towards the center unit.

  6. Repeat to make a total of sixteen nine patch blocks.

Seam Allowance Option

If you don't like the bulk of the 1/4" seam allowances, trim them back to about 3/16" before you cut units from strip sets.
