Easy Quilt Patterns

Strippy set quilts don't get much simpler than the Road Trip desing. Named for the Route 66 fabrics it's sewn with, Road Trip is an easy quilt pattern made by assembling columns of squares, with rectangles at the ends of a few columns to create offsets that simulate a wavelike appearance in the finished design. Fabrics of different color values help make the waves appear.

Make copies of the drawing on page 3 if you like and experiment with color and value to discover how altering those elements changes the quilt's appearance.

Cut patches from a variety of fabrics to make a scrap quilt.

Finished Quilt: About 44-1/2" x 50-1/2"

Make longer and/or additional columns to increase the quilt's size.

Quilting Fabrics Be sure to see the last page of this pattern before choosing fabrics. The quilt shown on that page is slightly larger, and illustrates a somewhat different layout for lights and darks.
