ORDERLY Quilt Cutting/Sewing
You might need to make a few additional, short strip sets later if your fabrics aren't at least 42" wide (usable width).
- Cut a 2-1/2" wide strip of your light cool fabric from selvage to selvage. Cut another strip that measures 2-1/2" x 20-1/2".
- Cut a 2-1/2" wide strip of your dark cool fabric from selvage to selvage. Cut another strip that measures 2-1/2" x 20-1/2".
- Sew matching-length strips together lengthwise. Press seam allowance towards the darker fabric.
- Cut a 2-1/2" wide strip of your light warm fabric from selvage to selvage. Cut another strip that measures 2-1/2" x 20-1/2".
- Cut a 2-1/2" wide strip of your dark warm fabric from selvage to selvage. Cut another strip that measures 2-1/2" x 20-1/2".
- Sew matching-length strips together lengthwise. Press seam allowance towards the darker fabric.
The illustration shows one of each strip set type. You'll be making two of each type, but one is a full selvage width and the other is 20-1/2" long.
Orderly quilts are going to go together more quickly than scrappy quilts. I'm trying to keep both sets of quilters on an even-keel so that the design isn't revealed too soon. More for orderly folks in awhile.
