Get Some Spin with Hula Twist
Hula Twist is a bed size patchwork quilt that's made from two different quilt blocks, the Eccentric Star (top row, first on left) and Friendship Star (top row, second from left). Both quilt blocks give the design a bit of spin. The quilt is easy to assemble, and beginning quilters should be able to stitch it with ease.
Quick piecing techniques are used to create all components that are used in this patchwork quilt pattern.
- A mottled "seafoam" colored fabric sits behind purple (print) half square triangle units used in the Friendship Star quilt blocks. It is repeated in the block's center.
- A mostly white fabric (with a little gray) provides the background for the Eccentric Star block. A multicolor fabric in shades of green (and a touch of purple) is used for the twisted "spokes," and the same purple is used for star tips at the block's center.
