Finding a Home for Your Quilts

  • Contact local organizations, such as staff at domestic abuse shelters and children's aid offices. Ask if a group already makes quilts for them. Obtain the group's contact information and give them a call.

  • Ask staff at local quilt shops if they know of comfort quilt groups.

  • If you do not belong to a quilting guild, find out if one exists in your area and attend a meeting to ask if the group works on charity quilts.

  • Watch for quilting classes held at local community colleges. Quilting teachers are often tuned-in to local happenings.

  • If you cannot find a local group, start one yourself or work alone to make quilts for a reputable organization, either locally, nationally or internationally.

Quilt Guidelines

Be sure to find out if the organization you choose has specific guidelines for the quilts they will accept. Follow all guidelines carefully.
