Preliminary Cutting Instructions
Cut a few mystery quilt patches to get started. Substitute your own fabric colors for the colors shown.Cut patchwork shapes from strips of fabric. Since you might be using scraps, I won't list strip length requirements, but they're easy to calculate and I've added a few notes to help you.
Cut the following and group together:
Golden Yellow: (20) 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" squaresExample: Cut from 3-1/2" wide strips. Divide your strip width by 3-1/2 to determine how many squares you can cut from a given strip length.
Lightish Green: (48) 2" x 2" squares
Example: You can cut about (22) 2" squares from a 2" wide strip of fabric cut from selvage to selvage.
Deepest Red: (32) 2" x 2" squares
Cut the following and group together:
Deepest Red: (20) 1-1/2" x 4-1/2" barsExample: Can be cut by dividing 4-1/2" wide strips into 1-1/2" segments, or by dividing 1-1/2" wide strips into 4-1/2" segments.
Deep Golden Orange: (20) 1-1/2" x 4-1/2" bars
