Practice Stitching in the Ditch
How to Stitch in the Ditch

One variation of Stitch in the Ditch quilting is stitching in the seamline where two fabrics meet.

Like any other quilting skill, stitching in a seamline takes practice.
  1. Begin by dropping the sewing machine's needle between the two fabrics that meet at a seam.
  2. Stitch along the seam line, pulling the fabrics apart slightly on both sides of the seam as you sew. It can be a challenge to hold your hands steady as you guide the quilt under the needle -- don't give up, just keep practicing.
