Free motion quilting is fun, but can be challenging at first. The sampler in the photo includes designs that were drawn onto tissue paper and then free motion quilted. The marked tissue paper makes it easy to focus on the movement of the fabric and the speed at which you are quilting, rather than thinking about a design.
I pinned the tissue paper to the fabric with safety pins before I began quilting, and removed the pins after the quilting was complete, unless they were in the way of the needle and had to be removed as I worked.
I used Sulky metallic thread for this machine quilted sample.
