Loft

Definition: A term that describes the thickness of batting. Puffy batting is considered high loft. Thin batting is considered low loft.

Loft also describes the slight height that occurs along seams that have seam allowances pressed to the side underneath them. The two layers of fabric within the seam allowance below makes the upper fabric pooch out just a bit.
