What is a Quilting Design Wall?
A quilting design wall is any wall or other flat surface that can be used to position quilt blocks, and then allow you to step back to view the layout from a distance. If the layout isn't quite right, simply shuffle blocks around until you're satisfied with the look.To make a design wall, quilters often hang cotton batting or plain white flannel on a walls, because quilt blocks and other components stick to those materials easily without using pins.
Commercially made design walls are also available, and often resemble sturdy quilt batting.
