The quilters decided to connect their applique quilt blocks using the quilt as you go method, where each completed block is sandwiched with batting and backing, and then individually quilted, before blocks are joined together.

Finding a green fabric similar to the vintage cotton used for the oak leaves wasn't difficult, but the reel and crescent fabric containing turkey red was elusive. In the end, museum Staff chose a bright pink on pink fabric for those shapes.
