Thorough and easy to understand instructions, detailed step-by-step photos and a healthy dose of creativity work together to make this book a winner. The author begins with general instructions for making a book cover, then proceeds into chapters filled with ideas to cover books of all types.
General Instructions
The book's general instrucutions take up about a third of the text, a wonderful feature because the basic technique is described and shown from start to completion. Like other titles in the Fast Fun and Easy series, this book has construction tips on every page. I want to stress again how helpful the book's step-by-step photos are -- visual learners will appreciate the pictures.
Book Cover Projects
After teaching us the basics, Ms. Finch moves straight to a brag book cover. Her three-fabric formula is an easy concept to grasp -- and the perfect way to begin making these wonderful little book covers. Other projects you'll find are:
- A check book cover with button tie and pen holder
- A scrapbook cover with ribbon ties
- Instructions for covering a flapped journal
- A sketchbook cover with pencil holder
The author includes instructions for many types of embellishments and all chapters are peppered with photos that provide ideas for numerous variations.
Supplies You'll Need
There are a few special supplies required to make the book covers, but I suspect you'll find that most things you need are already in your sewing room. The author recommends fast2fuse for the interfacing layer, but other materials can be substituted for it if necessary. Fast2fuse is an excellent product to have on hand if you like to make quilted crafts in general -- it's my favorite interfacing for fabric postcards.

Fast Fun and Easy Book Cover Art is packed with creative ideas and the instructions required to complete every project. After working through this book, you'll have all the skills you need to cover just about any type of book or album you choose.
