James's T-Shirt Quilt
From MOMOF11: As my son was packing up to head off to college he brought me a stack of 25 or 30 T-shirts and asked "can you make a quilt from T-shirts?" I'd read about doing that and said I could. Some shirts had small logos, and so I pieced them togather to make blocks the size of the larger shirt logos. One or two logos were larger than the rest. So I decided to frame each block to get them all to the same size. The only thing I had to buy to make this quilt was the fusible interfacing used to back the T-shirt fabric and stabilize it. The fabric I used for framing came from old shirts that my husband had outgrown. The backing fabric was in my stash. I quilted it in sections and then joined them. Fabric used for the section joining coverstrips had been used for a while as a cover for our couch. The binding is new denim I had in my stash. This is a very heavy quilt!"
