Make Foundation D Units

  1. Use the same techniques to sew all pieces to a Foundation D. ending with a square.

  1. Sew a C unit to a D unit, matching edges carefully. The new unit replaces the setting triangles used for Variation One blocks.

  2. Sew together five A-B pairs as you did to make Variation One.

  3. Sew a C-D unit to each side of a B unit just as you did the plain setting triangles in Variation One. Remove papers from the seam allowances and press seams towards the pieced triangles. Repeat with all remaining C-D and B units.

  4. Sew an A-B unit between pairs of the units you created in step 3. Remove papers from seam allowances and press the block.

  5. Make a total of five Variation Two blocks.
