Cutting for Variation One Quilt Blocks

Cut long triangle into mirror image pairs.

Foundation A Cutting Chart

Pieces 2 & 3: (4) 1-1/4" x 2-1/4" medium dark bars

Piece 4: (2) 1-3/4" x 1-3/4" dark squares

Pieces 5 & 6: (4) 1-1/4" x 2-1/4" medium dark bars

Piece 7: (4) 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" light squares

Pieces 8 & 9: (4) 1-1/4" x 2-1/4" dark bars

Piece 10: (4) 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" medium-dark squares

1. Cut piece 2 and 3 bars in half once diagonally. Cut two along one diagonal and the remaining two along the other diagonal to make mirror image triangles.

2. Cut piece 5 and 6 bars in the same way to create mirror image triangles; repeat for piece 8 and 9 bars.

3. Cut piece 4 squares in half once diagonally.

Foundation B Cutting Chart

Pieces 2 & 3: (12) 1-1/4" x 2-1/4" medium dark bars

Piece 4: (6) 1-3/4" x 1-3/4" dark squares

Pieces 5 & 6: (12) 1-1/4" x 2-1/4" medium dark bars

Piece 7: (12) 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" light squares

Pieces 8 & 9: (12) 1-1/4" x 2-1/4" dark bars

For Setting Triangles

(2) 4-1/4" x 4-1/4" squares; cut each in half twice diagonally.

Cut all long triangles except piece 1s in half once diagonally as you did for Template A pieces, cutting half one direction and half the other to create mirror image pairs.

Cut squares in half once diagonally.

We'll cut Foundation C and D pieces when it's time to work on block Variation Two.
