The quilt pattern uses two variations of the traditional Oddfellows Star quilt block. One version has setting triangles sewn to its "X-like" backbones. The other block has star-like pieced units in those positions.
If I made this quilt again I would not choose the block colors you see here -- definitely not for the center block. I would use fabrics with more contrast to get a dramatic color value difference.
The original quilt is lost. If you have seen it, I would appreciate if you would please let me know.

Before You Begin
If you are not familiar with foundation paper piecing, read Foundation Piecing Basics and Paper Piecing Tips before you begin to get a basic understanding of the process and to determine if you will use permanent or temporary foundations. I recommend using temporary foundations or very sheer permanent foundations to reduce bulk.Print the templates in the Oddfellows Star PDF file onto your foundation material (paper, other). I've doubled-up on templates, but you'll need to print multiple copies.
Do not cut all fabric for the quilt at once. Cut enough for a block or two and make adjustments if needed as you sew. This is important for any foundation pieced pattern that you follow.
