Little Friendship Stars Quilt Pattern

This small friendship quilt has sixteen scrappy 6" star blocks with patchwork centers. The middle strip of each center can be a signature panel. If you sew the quilt all by yourself, add names to create a quilt that commemorates family members.

Choose a neutral background for the quilt's center strip so that signatures will be visible -- it needn't be a solid, but shouldn't be too busy. If you prefer not to add signatures, you might want to replace the signature panels with darker fabrics.

Star blocks are separated by sashing and cornerstones. An inner border is sewn from the same fabric and in the same width as sashing. A wide outer border completes the quilt top. You can reduce the size of the quilt by sewing narrower sashing and borders.

Signature Panels

Press the reverse side of signature panel fabric onto the shiny side of freezer paper, available at the grocery store. When cut, the sturdy backing makes strips easier to write on. Use permanent markers, such as Pigma pens, for lasting signatures. Tell signers to avoid placing signatures in the outer 1/4" (seam allowance) of the strip.

Finished Quilt Size: 37" square
