Complete the Table Runner

Cut setting and corner triangles:

See my Setting Triangle Instructions

Corner triangles: cut two 8" x 8" squares and then cut each square in half once diagonally

Setting triangles: cut two 15-3/8" x 15-3/8" squares and then cut each square in half twice diagonally (two will not be used; save for other patchwork and remember that the straight grain runs along their long edges)

Assemble the Table Runner

  1. Referring to the illustration, sew larger setting triangles to the blocks as shown (center blocks have two each, end blocks have one each). Press seam allowances towards the triangles.

  2. Sew the block/triangle sections together along the diagonal, butting adjacent seams for a snug match.

  3. Center and sew a corner triangle to each outer edge of corner blocks. Press.

  4. Refer to my straight border instructions to sew two borders to the quilt. If you are a new quilter, don't be tempted to measure the outer edges of your quilt for border lengths, because the quilt is likely skewed a bit.

Use 1-3/4" strips of green plaid for the inner border. Use 3-1/2" strips of bright floral for the outer border.

  5. Mark for quilting if necessary. Sandwich with backing and (optional) batting. Quilt and bind.
