Tea Leaf Quilt Block

There are several ways to piece the patchwork Tea Leaf quilt block. We'll use a combination of quick-pieced half-square triangle units, squares, and one rectangle.

Finished Block Size: 12" x 12" square

Use the colors shown in my illustrations as a guide to help you assemble the block, but choose any colors you wish. I chose green leaves and white blossoms because those are the true colors of a tea plant. The blue background represents the sky.

Your colors needn't be realistic. Batiks would be really pretty. A smallish novelty print could be used for the blossom or leaves -- how about a print with teacups and saucers, or maybe tea pots? Early twentieth century reproduction prints would be good, too. Use your imagination, because there are no rules.
