Rosebud is one of those quilt blocks that's appearance can be changed dramatically by varying the placement of color and color value.

Rosebud blocks look very good when sewn next to simple alternate blocks. A block-sized quarter square triangle unit works, and so does a Snowball or a chain-type block that links with Rosebud's diagonal flow.

Focal fabric for block center

  • (1) 6-1/2" x 6-1/2" square

Pale yellow

  • (1) 2" x 16-1/2" strip
  • (1) 3-1/2" x 8-1/2" strip

Red print

  • (1) 2" x 16-1/2" strip
  • (2) 2" x 8-1/2" strips

Blue print

  • (4) 2" x 6-1/2" strips
