Pinwheel in a Square Quilt Block Pattern
The Pinwheel in a Square quilt block finishes at 8-inches square or 12-inches square, your choice. I designed the block to be used with the Springtime Mosaic Pinwheels quilt block, but you can use either of them alone.
The colors I chose for the pinwheel quilt block are primarily light to medium shades that blend together just a bit, because I wanted a somewhat colorwashed appearance. You might prefer to create more contrast among the patches of your quilt blocks.
Fabrics for One 8-inch Pinwheel Quilt Block
Light Background:
- (2) 4-7/8" x 4-7/8" squares, each cut in half once diagonally
- (2) 2-7/8" x 2-7/8" squares
Medium Blue-Green for Block Corners: (4) 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" squares
Yellow/Peach for Triangles to Surround Pinwheel Center: (2) 3-3/4" x 3-3/4" squares, each cut in half once diagonally
Multicolor Print for Pinwheel Center: (2) 2-7/8" x 2-7/8" squares
Fabrics for One 12-inch Pinwheel Quilt Block
Light Background:
- (2) 6-7/8" x 6-7/8" squares, each cut in half once diagonally
- (2) 3-7/8" x 3-7/8" squares
Medium Blue-Green for Block Corners: (4) 3-1/2" x 3-1/2" squares
Yellow/Peach for Triangles to Surround Pinwheel Center: (2) 5-1/8" x 5-1/8" squares, each cut in half once diagonally
Multicolor Print for Pinwheel Center: (2) 3-7/8" x 3-7/8" squares
