Sew the Quilt Blocks
- Gather your 2-7/8" x 2-7/8" squares. Pair a light square with a dark square and use the easy sandwich method to construct two half square triangle units with the pair. Each completed unit should measure 2-1/2" x 2-1/2".
- Repeat to make a total of (40) half square triangle units.
- Use the same method to make two half square triangle units by pairing the two 8-7/8" x 8-7/8" squares. Each completed unit will measure 8-1/2" x 8-1/2".
- Gather (20) small half square triangle units and one large unit. Arrange them into three vertical rows as shown:
- The left vertical row has (6) small units with oriented with the light halves on the right and dark to the left.
- The center row is made up of the large unit, with four small units sewn to its top and four to its bottom (sew each string of four together first, and then sew the row to the large square).
- The right row has (6) small units oriented with dark halves on the left and light halves on the right (like the first row).
- The left vertical row has (6) small units with oriented with the light halves on the right and dark to the left.
