Lady of the Lake Quilt Block Pattern

Lady of the Lake is made entirely with half square triangle units, twenty small units and one large version at the block's center. Only two fabrics are required, a dark and a light, and they're reversed from side to side. This example uses two fabrics that are alike, but in different colorways.

The instructions are for two Lady of the Lake quilt blocks. Instructions assume you will use the easy sandwich method for half square triangle units, but if you're making lots of identical blocks you might want to sew them on a grid (commercial grids are available). Cutting will differ if you use other methods.

I prefer the sandwich method no matter how many like-units I plan to assemble, but preferences vary.

Finished quilt block size: 12" x 12"

Dark doesn't necessarily mean something as deep as black or navy -- the importance is a noticeable contrast between the two fabrics you choose.
