Quilt Block Patterns - Framed Friendship Star Quilt Block Pattern
The interior of what I'll call the Framed Friendship Star quilt block, with its 4-patch units, looks very similar to the Milky Way design. But the orientation is a bit different and, with the frame, the blocks won't form alternating star shapes when sewn side-by-side.Framed Friendship Star finishes at 12-inches square, and can be assembled with quick piecing techniques. You'll find a quilt layout suggestion on page 4, along with yardages to make the quilt shown.
You can make a single block from scraps -- see fabric sizes on the next page. To make the block illustrated, choose a rosy red fabric, a black small-scale print, a medium brown fabric (should contrast with the black), a lighter tan fabric (for half square triangles, paired with red) and a very light small scale print (for the outer frame).
