Complete No-Waste Flying Geese Units

  1. Arrange a small neutral square on the teal fabric of each unit from previous page, right sides together and marked lines as shown, top illustration.

  2. Sew two seams on each unit, each a scant 1/4" from the small square's marked line. Press the unit (as is) to set the seams.

  3. Cut each unit apart on its original drawn line.

  4. Press the neutral pieces open to create four flying geese units (bottom illustration). Units should each measure 2-1/2" x 4-1/2".

Assemble the remaining Flying Geese Units

Use the same technique to make additional sets of four Flying Geese units. Combine the following squares to make the units.

  • One dark teal square with four small black squares

  • One large light teal square with four small neutral squares

  • One large light teal square with four small black squares

Mark diagonal lines on small black squares with a light pencil, or make a crease with a Hera marker.

You should now have the following 16 Flying Geese units:

  • 4 dark teal geese with light backgrounds
  • 4 dark teal geese with black backgrounds
  • 4 light teal geese with light backgrounds
  • 4 light teal geese with black backgrounds
