Double Nine Patch Quilt Block Pattern
This version of the Double Nine Patch quilt block finishes at 11-1/4" x 11-1/4". That means each small square in its five individual nine patch units finishes at 1-1/4".The four nine patch units used in the block's corners are arranged to mirror each other, but are identical. The center unit is slightly different. Squares of a small-print fabric fill in the gaps between patchwork units.
Quilting Fabrics for the Double Nine Patch Quilt Block
All fabrics are prints, but the examples used in small nine patch units are more subtle tone-on-tones. A navy blue print is the darkest fabric used, but the warmth of the vivid red, orange and yellow prints pops out, fading the blue to the background just a bit. Larger squares are cut from a fairly neutral small print -- one that doesn't overpower the other fabrics.Neutral Print
