Christmas Rising Star Quilt Block Pattern

I think a Christmas theme is a perfect match for the Rising Star quilt block, but feel free to give it any look you desire.

The quilt block finishes at 12" x 12" and features a star within a star. You'll need four fabrics to make a quilt block like the illustration, but you can create a scrappier block by simply using different background fabrics for the center and large stars.

Rising star quilt blocks look good with sashing sewn between them, or alternated with a simple quilt block, such as a four-patch Snowball (corner triangles would stretch down to meet the edges of the block's corner squares). Take a look at the pattern for A Joyous Celebration for an example of Snowballs sewnnext to typical Evening Star quilt blocks.
