4" Block
- Pair each 1-7/8" neutral square with a paisley square of the same size. Use my easy sandwich method to make eight half-square triangle units from the pairs; completed units will be 1-1/2" square.
- Cut the 1-7/8" turquoise squares in half once diagonally. Sew a triangle to the short end of a background rectangle as shown above. Make another unit that's a mirror image of the first as shown. Press seam allowances towards the rectangle. Repeat to sew another pair.
- Use the sandwich method to make two paisley/turquoise half square triangle units from the 2-7/8" squares.
- Sew two paisley/background triangle square units together as shown - left in middle row of drawing. Sew a 1-1/2" background square to the left end of unit. Press seam allowances towards the square.
- Sew two paisley/background triangle squares together vertically as shown. Press seams towards the darker fabric. Sew this unit to the left side of the large paisley/turquoise triangle square. Press seam allowance towards the large triangle square.
- Sew the top strip to the Step 5 unit. Press seam allowance towards upper strip.
- Sew the rectangular units to the Step 6 unit. Press seam allowances towards the rectangular units.
- Cut the 2-7/8" background square in half once diagonally (not shown). Center and sew one of the triangles under the Cactus Pot "legs." Press seam towards triangle. The block should measure 4-1/2" square.
- Make another Cactus Pot quilt block.
