Make Quarter-Square Triangle Units
- Refer to my easy sandwich method for half-square triangle units and use those instructions to combine an aqua 2-7/8" square with a purple 2-7/8" square. When you sew to each side of the center line, make the seam a scant quarter inch.
- The process will result in two half-square triangle units, each with a blue half and a purple half. The units should measure 2-7/8" squares.
- Repeat to combine one of the half-square triangle units with a 2-7/8" background square. (quarter-square triangle unit instructions)
- Cut the new units apart to create two mirror image units with blue/purple triangles in one half and background fabric in the other. Each unit should mesure 2-1/2" square. Keep mirror image units together.
- Repeat the process to make a total of eight units that match the units in step 4.
- Sew two mirror image units together as shown in the lower right of the illustration. Press seam allowance either direction.
