- Gather the small background and golden brown squares reserved for half square triangle units. Use the easy sandwich method to sew contrasting squares together, creating four units that measure 2" x 2" after assembly.
- Sew a 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" black print bar lengthwise to each side of the background bar of the same size. press seam allowances towards the darker bars.
- Create the top and bottom rows, orienting triangles as shown. Each row contains two half square triangle units and one 2" x 3-1/2" rectangle.
- Press seam allowances towards the rectangles.
- Sew a 2" x 3-1/2" rectangle to each side of the pieced block center, orienting the center so that its "stripes" flow horizontally between the side units.
- Press seam allowances towards the rectangles.
- Sew all rows together, butting seams for an exact match at intersections. Press. The Album Churn Dash quilt block should measure 6-1/2" x 6-1/2".
