Woven Baskets Quilt Block Pattern
Woven Baskets is a traditional patchwork quilt block pattern. Squares and half square triangles are used throughout the quilt block. Where possible, a quick piecing technique is used to assemble half square triangles into square units (HST).Finished Quilt Block: 12" x 12"
HST units finish at 2" x 2". For best accuracy when making units that small, consider cutting the parent squares slightly larger than the sizes listed on pages 2 and 3, and then trim back the finished units after assembly so that their dimensions are perfect; you'll find trimming instructions in the half square triangle units tutorial.
To make a similar quilt block, you'll need small pieces of fabrics in a couple of lights (one warm, one more neutral), a dark green, a deep maroon, a medium neutral and a deep gold. The largest patch in the block is a dark floral triangle cut from a 8-7/8" x 8-7/8" square.
You aren't limited to the colors shown here -- choose colors and fabrics that you love. To get the same basic look, substitute my colors with fabrics of the same color value. The instructions on pages 2 and 3 are for one basket quilt block -- draw from your stash to make several scrappy blocks.
You'll also find a small wallhanging pattern, with yardages and cutting instructions, on page 4.
