Swamp Angel Quilt Block Pattern

Swamp Angel is the fifth quilt block pattern for the Scrap Happy Sampler Quilt, another scrap-friendly layout that lets you incorporate a variety of fabrics into your quilt.

Finished block size: 12" x 12"

The cutting instructions are for a Swamp Angel quilt block similar to my example. Change fabrics and color value in any way you like. Notice that my fabrics don't "match," and they aren't a combination I'd choose for a structured quilt. But I plan to repeat some block fabrics throughout the scrappy sampler, helping tie the blocks together.

Teal floral or small scale paisley: for block center (1) 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" square

Deep green mottled: for quarter square triangle units (2) 5-1/4" x 5-1/4" squares

Light multi-gold print w/red: for quarter square triangle units (2) 5-1/4" x 5-1/4" squares

Blue print for half square triangle units at block corners: (2) 4-7/8" x 4-7/8" squares

Gold print for half square triangle units at block corners: (2) 4-7/8" x 4-7/8" squares

I used a combination of cool and warm colors, and the warms help fabrics pop out a bit. If you use all cools or all warms, choose light, medium and dark fabrics to achieve contrast.
