Chains Patchwork Baby Quilt Pattern
This little chains design is a baby quilt version of the larger Cozy Chains quilt. Reducing the blocks by half results in 6" x 6" square quilt blocks that suit the smaller scale of a baby quilt. The reduction does make the strip pieced units fairly narrow, but all pieces are cut on the fabric's straight grain -- no stretchy bias edges. The quilt is made from one chains-type block sewn in two colorways. Blocks are alternated side-to-side and up-and-down. Interior sections of the blocks, and small dark squares, are common to both color layouts, and flow diagonally across the quilt.
Change the fabrics to suit your needs.
The quilt's units are rotary cut and strip pieced. If rotary cutting is new to you, be sure to read How to Rotary Cut Fabric Strips and other rotary cutting how-to articles on this Web site before you begin.
