The 2007 About.com Anniversary Sampler Quilt is suitable for quilters of any skill level. After we finish the quilt, new quilters will have more experience with techniques they've never tried, including applique, which is optional for quilters who absolutely do not want to go there just yet. I hope you have fun making the sampler, and that you'll send me a photo of yours when it is finished.

Churn Dash (with a twist) fits into the next-to-last slot nicely, because although it's an easy quilt block to make, its patchwork gives you lots of opportunity to play around with color and color value. Have fun with the block and feel free to change it in any way that suits you.

Steps to the Altar is the final quilt block in the First Anniversary Sampler Quilt series. This traditional quilt block sometimes has slightly different components, and there are other blocks that use the same name or similar names, even though they have a completely different appearance -- confusing, but not at all uncommon in the world of quilting.
