Begin Assembling the Quilt Top

Begin creating diagonal rows with the sashing, blocks, and end triangles.

  1. Cut an 21" x 21" square of medium-brown fabric. Cut the square in half twice diagonally to make four setting triangles with the fabric's straight grain on their longest edge.

  2. Assemble the top left and bottom right diagonal rows first by sewing the long sashing units to the outer edges of the groups of two blocks as shown (refer back to page 3 if necessary).

  3. Sew a triangle created in step 1 to each side of each row, taking care to orient triangles as shown.

  4. Sew together remaining rows of sashing and blocks. Press new seam allowances in the direction that works best for you.

  5. Sew the rows with setting triangles to the central body of the quilt. Press.
