- Refer to the illustration to assemble the half-square triangles into the six units shown, taking care to orient the triangles correctly. Each new unit contains four triangle square units.
- Combine the units containing triangle squares with the three four-patch units to create three rows as illustrated. Sew the units in each row together.
- Sew the rows together to finish the block. Before sewing, press seam allowances in adjoining rows in opposite directions where possible to help you butt seams for a snug match. That likely won't be possible for all units, so take time to match seams carefully.
Your quilt block should measure 12-1/2" x 12-1/2" square. If your block is smaller than it should be, or skewed, press again and recheck. If it still isn't quite right, use my
easy squaring-up method before sewing it in your quilt.
