Morning Star is a traditional quilt block that's been known by at least a few other names. Two are Virginia and Rosebud, and both names also refer to multiple designs. Patchwork and its varied history... you gotta love it.
The Morning Star quilt block pattern is an easy project, and you can certainly shift color and contrast around to suit your own tastes. All of the patchwork is quick pieced, so it's easy to assemble. Some of the units are flipped around in the final layout, and the 'chevrons' at block midpoints are mirror images.
Prints of varying scales are fine throughout the quilt block, but consider how striped fabrics and other directionals might look when oriented in different ways.
