I'm not big on sewing zippers -- I've had a mental block about them since about 1963. So I've avoided making pillow covers, because I like covers that can be removed when it's time to wash them, something that's critical when you have a house full of felines like we do. This quick and easy pillow cover method solves the problem by eliminating the zippers and replacing them with a simple, fold-over back. Start looking through your
UFO bins for quilt blocks, and then grab some backing fabric. You'll finish this easy throw pillow cover in no time.

I know that lots of you make comfort quilts for friends and family with cancer and other diseases, and donate quilts for auctions when proceeds are given to research facilities. A large number of you have made quilts that are a textile representation of your own journey with the disease. I applaud all of your efforts. I lost a dear sister to breast cancer -- if there's anything I can ever do to help spread the word about a cancer awareness project, just ask.
We all know that pink signifies breast cancer awareness, but other cancers and diseases use different colors to show support. My awareness ribbon colors list might help you choose colors for your next awareness quilt. I'm missing some colors and diseases -- if you see a gap please send me an email and I'll add the color to the list.
