Make a batch of these easy quilt blocks or organize a swap and trade with your friends. Omit the hearts if you prefer, replacing them with a plain square of fabric. The block finishes at 12-inches square, but its individual patches are small enough to make the design suitable for a child's quilt.
How about making those corners into I Spy spots, instead of adding applique? That would work, and you could even turn each square into a little Snowball unit.
