Cotton is a traditional choice for quilt batting. A natural fiber, it breathes -- meaning that heat and moisture don't become trapped beneath it during a night's sleep. Cotton batting is a good choice for wallhangings -- it doesn't stretch very much, so hangs straight, without the droopiness that can occur with polyester batting.
