Make a Yo Yo Quilt

Yo yos are little gathered rosettes of fabric that can be used to make an entire quilt or coverlet, for dimensional applique or to embellish any project. They're fun and simple to make, so give the technique a try -- you'll find all sorts of ways to sew yo yos to your quilts.

I have plenty of scrap fabric to make yo-yos but do the quilts stay together? They always looked to me that they’d fall apart easily.

If you make a coverlet, with yo yos joined at their sides, you would need to handle it more carefully than a typical quilt. But there are lots of examples from years and years ago that are still in quite good condition, so I wouldn’t necessarily call them fragile.
