Make a Christmas Table Runner

Wednesday October 29, 2008
quiltingI'm headed to Phoenix as this post goes live, sitting in the Asheville, North Carolina airport waitng for the first leg to Charlotte. We'll go from 29 degrees at departure to the 90s at touchdown, not really a temperature that puts me in mind of Christmas.

But the holidays are definitely growing near, so it's time to work on a few themed projects, like his lively Christmas table runner that's made from four 10" square blocks placed on point and surrounded by rosy red setting and corner triangles. Two borders finish the layout, one cut from narrow green strips and the other from wider pieces of floral -- both repeat fabrics used in the quilt blocks. The runner finishes at about 22-1/2" x 65", but you can make easy alterations to change its length or width. The pattern will work for any season or theme -- simply choose different fabrics.
