Fall in Love with Scrap Quilts

Tuesday September 23, 2008
scrap quiltScrap quilts are filled with an assortment of fabrics that are often truly random in appearance, with (seemingly) no thought given to the placement of color and color value. Charm quilts are the ultimate scrap quilt -- no fabric is used more than once (except perhaps an occasional piece that's sewn wrong-side-up to change its appearance). If you prefer, scrap quilts can be a little more orderly, with lots of fabrics but in a less random layout. Think back to the most memorable scrap quilts you've seen over the years -- I'll bet the quilters who made them put a good deal of thought into their fabric arrangements, because making a successful scrap quilt does take some planning. If it's a technique you like, I have a few suggestions to help you get started.

I love your quilt “What Was I Thinking”! I think it would be quite cute for a little girl to have. If you consider that bad, the rest of your scrap quilts must be wonderful! :-)

Hello Janet,
I just heard about you and someone told me that you are in western North Carolina. If you are I wanted to invite you to visit my shop, Bless My Stitches in Murphy. I also have a blog, blessmystitches.blogspot.com. I have been recently blogging about a charity quilt we are making for Love Without Boundries. Check it out!
